How's the weather over there?

Oh Apple...(a PSA)

It never ceases to amaze me; I have had my powerbook since last summer and I have only rebooted it about 4 or 5 times. And those were only because I installed some kind of software update like a security patch or minor OS upgrade or something.

Why do I have a Windows desktop again?

it's been awhile...

and this post won't be any more worthwhile than any of the others. :)

I've decided to drop the 2nd person thing. Its kind of stupid and
pretentious. Anyway, I just wanted to take a moment and voice my
opinion as far as "getting out the vote" is concerned. I'd like to take
the time to say that I think that people who wouldn't have voted
otherwise, or don't care in any event, shouldn't vote. I don't want
them to vote. I would hope that they don't vote.

Why? You might ask. Well, let someone exist who would otherwise not
have voted. Were that person to become convinced that they should vote,
perhaps by a random Burger King commercial or P. Diddy or something,
what is the likelihood that that person would know much less care what
the fuck is going on and who they should vote for?

I'd rather that people who haven't been paying attention didn't vote.
It's just gonna fuck things up. Besides we're headed for another
scandal anyway. If you liked the recount/Floridagate scandal you'd love
a contested election. I heard today that the Dem's are gonna post
10,000 lawyers around the country to watch for irregularities and that
the Rep's were gonna spread 30,000 across our wonderful land.

This is gonna be fabulous. 12 days left boys and girls.

As close to perfect...

Your Software Engineering class is driving you completely crazy. The professor is a complete fcukin ponce and his lectures are full of useless digressions and organized in such a way as to give the impression that he either; wants you to sleep through it, or thinks he is the Jim Jarmusch of the CS department, and so accomplished that he can get away with complete disorganization of the lecture material.

Keeping that in mind, today was almost perfect. You dreaded going to class for obvious reasons and attempted to talk yourself into staying home and playing Katamari Damacy rather than going to class. In honor of that dickhead Columbus and all. Add to that the fact that you got an email from one of your software team partners telling you that he wouldn't be there because he was feeling "under the weather" and had the day off of work anyway and wouldn't be coming to class. And well, sounds like you have a recipe for hookie.

But you stood strong, went to class and had a pretty good day. One, class ended early, about an hour instead of two. Two, you went to relieve yourself after class and there was a guy in there who was probably 4' 11" which was an additional ego boost, since you have a psedo-complex about your height. The only other thing you needed was some hot chick wanting to hook-up or at least hitting on you and today would have been perfect.

Ahh well. 2 out of 3 ain't so bad.

Disappointment

You are feeling quite dejected--wait, dejected is that too strong? Well, you don't think so. Ok fine, in any event you are upset by recent events. In a nutshell, you let a friend borrow a couple DVD's about 8 months ago, which in and of itself is no big deal. However recently you had a yearning to watch them and so you wanted them back.

About 4 weeks ago you sent out an email to a group of people because you weren't sure to whom you lent said DVD's. You then ran into this friend of yours a couple of days later. He informed you that he had your DVD's. You promptly forgot about it, as is your normal form, in the midst of engaging in small talk. You called him the next day when you remembered your faux pas and asked politely if it would be possible to arrange for a meeting during which you could reacquire possession of said DVD's.

To which there was no response.

Fast forward three weeks to today when you ran into said friend on AIM. A transcript of the conversation follows:

21:56:28 him: trying to... i still have your DVD's dude... sorry man... imma ask kace to bring it to you tomorrow b4 i leave
21:56:51 me: if you need to take a break, I'll be up all night
21:57:08 me: I'm going to see GITS2 this weekend
21:57:17 me: so i wanted to check out #1 first
21:57:26 him: yeah man... imma do some cuts for q-unique... who's a part of I.T.'s crew
21:57:33 him: ahh
21:58:14 him: yeah... man imma get that to yah... got to go to rehersal... of course... i'm fuckin late
21:58:40 me: well i'll leave you to it then
21:58:44 me: good luck tomorrow
21:59:09 him: yo... if you're gonna be up... do you want me to call you after rehersals?
21:59:16 me: yeah
21:59:17 me: do that
21:59:25 me: I'll be here
21:59:33 him: home?
21:59:37 me: yeah
21:59:51 him: aight... imma call you in a couple of hours
21:59:56 me: sounds good
22:00:31 him: cool man... imma get you those DVDs too...
22:00:46 him: aight D imma cut... check you out later
22:00:50 him: P's
22:00:52 me: one
he disconnected (22:01:54)

Perhaps you're being a little girl about this but this is just one more piece in a puzzle that is beginning to form an unacceptable pattern of behavior. It is now 4 or so hours later and you haven't heard anything from him. Not again. Not fcuking again.

Why is it that you seem to attract people whose aim is simply to use and/or take advantage of you? And why is it that "friends" are so completely fcuking useless and unreliable? And most importantly why are you asking such pointless questions which have such obvious answers?

You took a personality test at one point in your life. Your type? INTJ They should Google it if they're curious. It will explain alot.

Out.

The finish line is in sight.

You went an saw a couple of academic advisors today. One for CS and one for math. The best part of the whole experience was looking over your academic record prior to meeting with your advisors. According to your understanding of the requirements based on your catalog years you only have 4 classes left to take to complete your majors. Two for math and two for CS. Of the CS classes left the one you were bitching about earlier, Sofware Engineering, isn't even required.

Of course there is also an upper division GE class or two left but those are easy enough.

For the record here's what's left:

Math
Analysis II
Abstract Algebra II

CS
Numerical Analysis I
TBD (Depending on what's available)

What you're thinking you're going to do is go to the UAC and have them figure out what you need to take for your upper division GE. Then take the two math classes next quarter (Winter), since you know they'll be offered, plus whichever GE class will be required. Next (Spring quarter) you'll take the two CS classes and a GE if need be.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, should be that. Provided you pass all
of those courses you'll graduate this upcoming June.

Over and out,

I'm just testing email posting.

Let it burn...

You decided to start this weblog to get back in the habit since you had a weblog previously which you kept up with from time to time but ultimately abandoned. You feel the need to get back in the habit because a "log" is required for a class you're currently taking called Software Engineering. That, and actually, you find the habit quite cathartic.

So it comes at a good time as you are about a biscuit away from going completely fcuking monkey nuts. The point of the class you mentioned above, according to the professor, is essentially to acclimate yourself to the "rational" model of software development on a large-scale project as part of a team. Whatever the hell that means. The current cause of your palpitations is what your quarter-long software project will be. Any language, any platform, anything you and your team mates would like to create.

You and your mates had four project ideas. They were all shot down.

Now you have none.

Betapace anyone?
